Torpa kyrka is one of the churches in central Sweden that researchers have dated as far back as the close of the 12th century. What makes Torpa church extra special is that it is one of few churches that appears to be signed by its founder. On the original south gate’s relief is a rune writing that reads "Ödulf built the church". The present sanctuary was originally a wing of the Roman church. Arch paintings date from the 15th century and the baptismal font from the 12th century.

 

Guided tours of the church can be arranged for groups.
