Norberg has a fascinating history, for instance the fighter for freedom Engelbrekt, led the people to revolt here in 1434.

 

During 500 years the mining industry was the dominant industry and in 1981 the last mine was closed down. Today the history of mining is an important part of the society. The New Lapphyttan, Norbergs Gruvmuseum (The History of mining) and Polhemshjulet are just a few examples of all the sights worth visiting. Norberg is also a perfect place for outdoor living. You can enjoy beautiful scenery, walking tracks and fishing. During the winter there are also two well known skiing competitions, Kristinaloppet and Engelbrektsloppet.
