The oldest parts of this church were probably built in stages during the 14th century. An extensive reconstruction was carried out around 1700 according to drawings by architect  Nikodemus Tessin, Jr. The tower’s design dates from 1734 and may have been prepared by Tessin, Jr or Hårleman. The altar was constructed the same year and a very famous altar screen made in North Germany in 1520 is kept here.
