The Munktorp church is actually two churches - the Davidskyrkan named after Västmanland’s and Munktorp’s apostel was built in the 11th century while Stora Kyrkan was erected in stages spanning from the 13th to the 16th century. With its three aisles and measuring a full 70 m in length, the church is one of the largest country churches in Sweden. The church has a unique bronze baptismal font from the Middle Ages, a fabulous oak and wrought iron south gate, also from the Middle Ages, and the country’s only usable ambo and pulpit encased in a pillar. One of the wooden statues depicts Saint David.
